That what is clamped down upon exposes the panic

I have long warned on governments going beyond the power given to them by the people and nowhere else can this be seen in how the Covid-19 Pandemic is dealt with. Let us look at official UK statistics first which will be accepted at face value for the sake of this argument:

  • 52,514 virus deaths were registered by the Office for National Statistics.

  • 89% of these were over 65s,

  • More than 22,000 over 85s have died.

  • As well as some 17,000 aged between 75 and 84:

  • 95% of patients who die from coronavirus in hospitals have an underlying health condition, such as diabetes, heart disease, or obesity.

  • ONLY 314 people under the age of 40 have died of the disease since March. Almost no children did and again, those that died had other health issues.

  • Hospitals were not overrun at all.

And note that the figures are not really any different in any other country in terms of percentages. Note also that every death is regrettable and each will be sorely missed by remaining loved ones.

What does this tell us?

  • In the first place, the virus is deadly against elderly people and those above 65 years of age. The older, the more serious it gets.

  • Secondly, the virus is deadly against those that have an underlying health condition, such as diabetes, heart disease, or obesity.

  • Thirdly, younger generations will almost certainly survive an attack.

So, with the above in mind, why the panicked station approach? Why shut down entire economies when the logical approach would be to carry on as usual with the elderly, the proven vulnerable, given special care, and isolation (as humanely as possible since it is inherently bad for them to be alone). But no, that is too easy and too logical. No, economies must be shut down and people lose their jobs or stay at home and work from home. This is like a doomsday cult complete with massive fines, police arrests, and wholesale surveillance including the expressed wish of politicians that citizens betray each other. This is the interesting part to me. What are the officials clamping down on so hard, or translated, what is scaring them so much that they are clamping down on it?

Answer: All types of dissenting views or protests making them look like fools and panic-stricken idiots. That is what is clamped down upon. You are not allowed to think for yourself or point out the absurdities or what will work as it did work in Sweden and other places. They seem to be scared witless of justified criticism which is cowardice in another form.

Where will this end? When will it end? I don't know but I suspect that a bad ending awaits.
